Chicago Flame Hardening provides large-capacity heat treating for oversized and heavy industrial components. From our East Chicago, Indiana facility we serve manufacturers across Chicago, Northwest Indiana, the Midwest, and nationwide, and combining flame hardening, stress relieving, and mechanical straightening under one roof reduces handling and shortens lead times.

A fast, economical way to selectively harden specific surface areas for wear resistance with minimal distortion. Used on carbon and alloy steels, cast irons, and ductile irons, with progressive, spin, and combination methods for gears, rolls, shafts, sheaves, cams, cable drums, and rails.

Reduces residual stress, improves dimensional stability, and prepares parts for machining or service. Multiple-zone car bottom furnaces with no direct flame impingement handle drawing, tempering, and post-weld heat treating for weldments, fabricated assemblies, burned plate components, and heavy structures.

Corrects distortion from welding, machining, forming, or heat treating with straightening presses up to 150 ton capacity, for rounds, plates, square stock, castings, and fabrications.
